About us

Slash and Burn farming sits at the crossroads of two of the greatest threats to global stability: accelerating climate change, and diminishing food security.

The Inga Foundation is a non-profit organisation that provides an alternative solution to slash & burn farming, through the implementation of a sustainable farming technique known as Inga alley-cropping, that enables farmers to grow their crops on the same plot of land forever, without destroying huge areas of rainforest each year just to survive, and allows them to stay close to their family homes, and protect their environment for future generations.

The Foundation's work is the result of a long term scientific research project into slash and burn agriculture, and what alternative agriculture systems could be developed as an alternative to this devastating practice.
